Available Training

The Office of Research Administration has designed a training program to ensure that research administrators have access to information that will provide them with a foundation of knowledge to assist them in understanding how to appropriately administer sponsored programs at Emory University. These offices provide a variety of educational opportunities related to sponsored program administration with the mission to support and enhance the administrative processes, both internally and externally, for proposals and awards. The courses offer guidance on the rules and regulations governing compliance with federal, University, and contractual sponsor requirements.

All ORA and research administrative staff must engage in a minimum of fifteen (15) contact hours of
continuing education each fiscal year. The fifteen (15) hours must consist of one (1) hour of continuing
education in team building and twelve (12) hours within the lifecycle of research administration.

ORA's Continuing Education Policy can be found here

ORA and research administrative staff are responsible for tracking and documenting continuing education
contact hours. We recommend using ORA's Continuing Education Contact Hours Tracking Log (excel file).

All recordings and presentations are stored in Brainier. You can access a list of all recording through this link.

This meeting covers important updates and provide a platform for discussing relevant topics in post-award administration. Meetings are held quarterly and include brief training sessions, relevant information, reminders, and updates on award management.

Certified Research Administrator Study Program

Emory's Office of Research Administration (ORA) CRA Study Program is a guided, self-study program designed to assist research administrators in preparing for the Certified Research Administrator (CRA) exam.

The study program is designed to guide potential applicants through the comprehensive body of knowledge represented on the CRA exam. It is an opportunity for research administrators to share knowledge and expertise. It is not meant to be the sole source of preparation for the CRA, nor is it meant to be a guarantee that participants will pass the CRA exam. It is designed to introduce those interested in taking the CRA exam to the exam format and content areas so that participants can determine subject areas where additional study or experience is needed prior to taking the exam.
